TF1: more than 4 million viewers for the France / Argentina rugby match

The Rugby World Cup begins well for TF1, the sole broadcaster of the competition, with more than 4 million viewers Saturday for the meeting between France and Argentina.

According to Médiamétrie data released Sunday, 4.3 million viewers on average watched the match on the front page, with a peak in circulation to 5 million. The meeting, broadcast late in the morning, ended in a victory over the wire of the XV of France (23 to 21).

This gave TF1 an audience share of 56.9%, all categories of viewers combined.

This is an encouraging start for the TF1 group, which relies heavily on this 2019 edition of the Rugby World Cup held in Japan.

The television group, which had shared the broadcast of the 2015 edition with Canal +, is this time the only broadcaster of the competition in France. It will broadcast for the first time the entire event live and in clear, on its antennas and platform MYTF1.

The matches of the XV tricolor and the biggest posters are programmed on TF1, and the other meetings on TMC, another channel of the group, which diffuses already regular sporting events.
